Results

this research question was asked to 96 ninth grade students at Decatur High School. 62 kids were female and 32 were male. The majority of kids chose neutral for the answer.

What is code switching?

Code switching is when you change something about the topic of the discussion because of the relationship you have with the people around you. Code-switching is defined as the practice of switching between a primary and a secondary language or discourse. In my situation of code-switching I think I act more like myself when im with my softball friends because we have so much in common. With my Decatur softball friends I feel like no matter who I want to be I can be.

Research Questions

These are some questions I will use to guide my research about code switching:
-I feel angry when a friend of mine code-switches?
-Does Code-Switching make life easier?

I chose to write about the topic code switching because I feel like I need to code switch beween my softball life and decatur and
I want to know why. When I'm with my softball team I feel like I can be myself with some things but not others. when I'm in decatur I feel like I can whoever I want to be and no one will question it. I want to know why they are so different.
